Lecture about the Netherlands

(The lecture will be in Dutch)

The C-Cityhost cycle of lectures

‘Antwerp in Europe’

focuses on links between

Antwerp and a European country.

The third country in this cycle:

Guest speaker

Patrick Van Gompel

former journalist VTM News, specialized in the Netherlands

Patrick was reporter foreign countries for

VTM News until he retired in 2022,

always with an extra focus on the Netherlands.

He still keeps track of the news items of the Netherlands

as well as of the Dutch literature.

In his most recent book NOU EN he tries to find out,

based on many interviews with famous and non-famous inhabitants,

why the Dutch are so Dutch.

NOU EN will be published at the end of October.

In the charming theatre ‘Het Klokhuis’,

where many Dutch artists have performed on stage,

Patrick will be interviewed

about his exploration of the soul and the character of the Dutch

and about the general situation in the Netherlands.

Gerard Alderliefste

Dutch doctor specialized in addictions, musician and singer

will take care of the beautiful and unique musical interludes.

His musical directory includes a bilingual ode to Ramses Shaffy

as well as Dutch translations of French chansons.

On https://gerardalderliefste.nl/media/

you can find some fragments.

After the lecture there will be time for a chat with a drink.
